Our Motivation

Hope for America. Like the man himself, Ron Paul's campaign slogan is simple and unassuming. So simple, in fact, that many Americans may glance over it, and never realize the power in these simple words. But as we've learned over the last six years, hope isn't as easy to come by as it should be. In today's divided, savage world of war, corruption and fear, the very idea of hope may seem downright naïve. But beneath the ravaged, weary, choppy surface of this country, one man, with this simple phrase, is bringing to life an ocean of pride and power, swelling from deep within.

When a nation has lost it, hope seems like a useless concept—innocent, dated, and immature. Somewhere, drifting between the fear and the anger, reacting to the corrupt politicians and to the threat of terrorism, to the violence, and the traffic, and the frustration and the commercials and distractions—we forget that hope is possible. That it is real. Not the hope that Jack Bauer might save the world yet again—not the hope that we make it home in time to watch American Idol—but the hope that our lives, and what we do with them, will mean something—that we're part of something great. That hope, the hope and the pride that has been part of American culture since the founding of this nation, has faded. It is a single star in the blackness of night that was once as bright as the sun. But the star is still shining.

The smoke rising from the rubble distorted our view. The ashes and the tears and the fear in our eyes kept us from seeing clearly. We wanted revenge. We wanted our innocence. We wanted to feel safe again. We were a nation of victims, and we wanted what all victims want—justice. We had lost so much that we didn't care what the cost might be—or how much more we might lose—we wanted our enemies to pay for what they'd done.

But now the smoke has cleared—the dust has settled—and as we look back—with our pride lost, our honor diminished, and our principles trampled upon—staring at the mess we've made—we have an opportunity.

This is still America. The world may be turning their backs on us, heads hung low, fists clinched in rage—but they're glancing back over their shoulders, hoping. For over two hundred years, our nation—which we did not build, but are lucky enough to have had down by our forefathers—has stood as the hope and the symbol of liberty to all people, all nations, all over the world. The world can forgive us. They have lived in fear much longer than we have, and they understand it. They've kept hope alive just knowing that America , that freedom, existed. They can forgive us, and they will stand behind us again because they have not lost hope in the ideal of freedom—have we?

Hope for America. It's a simple phrase, but it should not be underestimated. The Constitution is a simple document—written by men much wiser than our current stock of politicians. It must be honored. It must be protected. The American Dream is not a dream that Americans alone have held. The world has dreamed it through all of history. We have been charged to maintain it—to protect it—not for ourselves, but for future generations. Not just for our children, but for all children.

Dr. Ron Paul has spent his life defending and protecting The American Dream. He is a principled man who has never broken his oath to defend and protect the Constitution from all enemies. He has hope, and he is asking for your vote so that he can do his part to keep the fires of freedom for all men alive and burning brightly throughout the world.

Billed as the "one exception to the gang of 535" in Washington, Dr. Paul is immune to the pressure and the corruption of partisan politics and special interests. He voted against The PATRIOT Act, against the war in Iraq, against regulating the Internet. It is not uncommon for Mr. Paul to vote alone, 434-to-1, in Congress, because he will vote against any legislation that is at odds with the Constitution.

From his time in the Air Force and his practice as a doctor delivering babies, to his service in Congress and his bid for the White House, Dr. Paul has had a single-minded focus on one ambition—one hope: Liberty.

In 2008, we, the people of the United States of America, will have to make a choice. We can continue down the path that we are on; reacting to the world around us like a defensive, frightened, cornered animal—or we can join Ron Paul in his journey to bring freedom and liberty back to the forefront of American values. We can be part of the Re-Founding of America, or we can be witnesses to its premature demise. We can stand up, remember who we are, and what we stand for—remember what the founders and our soldiers have fought and died for—or we can lie down and remain poor, cowering victims of terror. We must stand-up for ourselves, and for the world.

Yes, this election is that important.
